| Yellow Split Peas/Chana dal | 1/2 cup |

| Red Chilli | 2 |
| Aniseed | 3/4 tsp |
| Poppy Seeds | 1/4 tsp |
| Cinnamon | 1 small piece |
| Cloves | 2 |
| Green Chilli(optional) | 1 |
| Coriander Leaves | 2 tblsp |
| Salt | to taste |
| Oil | to deep fry |
Cooking Steps
- Soak dal for an hour and grind slightly coarse with ginger,red chilli,aniseed,cinnamon,cloves and poppy seeds.
- Now add finely chopped onion,coriander leaves,salt and mix well.
- Make small balls and gently press between your palms and deep fry in hot oil till golden brown.
- Garlic can be added if desired and also fresh curry leaves.
- If using green chilli,add one red chilli.
- Reserve about a tablespoon of dal and mix it later.
- Let the flame be medium.
