Bitter gourd Thokku

Ingredients

Bitter gourd
Onion1
Garlic10 cloves
Curry Leavesfew
Tomato1
Chilli powder1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder1/4 tsp
Tamarind Paste1 tsp
Jaggery1 small piece
Fenugreekto splutter
Oil2 tsp
Saltto taste

Cooking Steps

  • Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan and fry the chopped bittergourd pieces till they slightly turn brown.Keep it aside.







  • Now add 1 tsp of oil in the pan,splutter a few fenugreek seeds,curry leaves and add finely chopped garlic and fry them well.
  • Add onions,saute till golden brown and then chopped tomato and saute till it becomes mushy.
  • Now add turmeric powder,chilli powder,salt and toss in the fried bitter gourd pieces.
     
  • Add the tamarind paste mixed in half cup of water and add the piece of jaggery and cook till bittergourd is done.


Little words

  • This can be referigerated for 3 to 4 days and there will not be any bitterness.
