Bitter gourd Thokku
Ingredients

Bitter gourd | 2 |
Onion | 1 |
Garlic | 10 cloves |
Curry Leaves | few |
Tomato | 1 |
Chilli powder | 1/2 tsp |
Turmeric powder | 1/4 tsp |
Tamarind Paste | 1 tsp |
Jaggery | 1 small piece |
Fenugreek | to splutter |
Oil | 2 tsp |
Salt | to taste |
Cooking Steps
- Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan and fry the chopped bittergourd pieces till they slightly turn brown.Keep it aside.
Now add 1 tsp of oil in the pan,splutter a few fenugreek seeds,curry leaves and add finely chopped garlic and fry them well.
Add onions,saute till golden brown and then chopped tomato and saute till it becomes mushy.
- Now add turmeric powder,chilli powder,salt and toss in the fried bitter gourd pieces.
- Add the tamarind paste mixed in half cup of water and add the piece of jaggery and cook till bittergourd is done.
Little words
- This can be referigerated for 3 to 4 days and there will not be any bitterness.
