Spicy Chappathi


Ingredients

Chilli powder1/2 tsp
Garam Masala1/4 tsp
Pepper Powder1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder1/4 tsp

Lemon juiceto taste

Cooking Steps

  • Cut the chappathis into small pieces.Heat oil in a pan,add onion,ginger garlic paste and fry till golden brown.

  • Now add tomato,turmeric powder,chilli powder,garam masala,salt and cook till the tomato becomes mushy.

  • At this stage add chappathi and give it a toss.

  • Now add egg,pepper powder and mix everything together.Garnish with coriander leaves,squeeze lemon juice and serve.

Little Words

  • Curd raita can be served as an accompaniment.

Cabbage Poriyal

Ingredients

Green Chilli1

Mustard Seeds1/8 tsp
Curry leavesfew
Salt  to taste

Cooking Steps

  • Heat oil in a pan,splutter mustard seeds,add curry leaves,green chilli and onion.Fry till the onion becomes transparent.
  • Add the cabbage,stir well and add salt.Now add water just enough to cook and cover with a lid.
  • After ten minutes remove lid and add the egg.Let the white to settle down and then scramble the egg along with the veggie so that it is mixed evenly.

Ragi Puttu

Ingredients

Ragi Flour1 cup
Sugar1/4 cup
Ghee2 tbl spn

Cooking Steps

  • Heat one tea spoon of ghee and add ragi flour.
  • Fry this in medium flame by adding the remaining ghee little by little till it changes colour.This will take about 8 to 10 minutes.

  • Now add sugar and fry for 2 to 3 minutes in low flame till the sugar mixes well with the fried flour.

Little words
  • Jaggery can be used instead of sugar.
  • Sugar coats with the flour and this gives a crunchiness.
  • All ghee can be added at the first step.Am adding in portions just for even mixing.

Fruity Nutty Rice


Ingredients

Basmati rice1cup(cooked)
Almond, cashew, pista4 nos each
Raisin6 nos
Dates2 nos
Grapes6 nos(chopped)
Apple2 slices(chopped)
Pomegranate1 tbl spn
Ghee1 tsp
Salta pinch

Cooking Steps

  • Heat 1 tsp of ghee in a pan and roast the nuts.
  • Now add cooked basmati rice and give it a stir.

  • Add a pinch of salt and then add all the fruits,give it a toss and fruity nutty rice is ready to eat.
Little words
  • The choice of nuts and fruits may vary according to your taste.
  • Adding salt is optional.
  • Kids are sure to love this yummy rice.

Mooli/Radish Cutlet

Ingredients

Grated mooli1/2 cup
Potato1(boiled & mashed)
Onion1(finely chopped)
Coriander Leaves2tbl sp
Ginger garlic paste1 tsp each
Chilli powder1/2 tsp
Garam Masala1/4 tsp
Coriander Powder1 tsp
Cumin Powder1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder1/4 tsp
Cumin Seedsto splutter
Bread Crumbs1/4 cup
Oil1 tbl sp
Saltto taste

Cooking Steps

  • Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan and splutter cumin seeds.Add onion,ginger garlic paste and saute till brown.

  • Now add grated radish/mooli,turmeric powder,coriander powder,chilli powder,cumin powder,garam masala,salt and sprinkle some water ,cover with a lid and cook.
  • Take this in a bowl,add mashed potatoes coriander leaves and little salt.
  • Make small balls,flatten them between  your palms and roll them in bread crumbs.


  • Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry them till golden brown and serve with any chutney or sauce.

Little words

  • Instead of grated mooli,boiled and mashed mooli can also be used.
  • Children who don't like radish are sure to love this.

Milk Halwa


Ingredients

Whole Milk3 cups
Sugar1/4 cup
Lemon juice1 tsp

Cooking Steps

  • Take milk in a heavy bottomed vessel and bring it to a boil.
  • Keep stirring continuously and reduce milk to 1/3 of its volume.
  • At this stage add about 1 tsp of lemon juice and continue stirring.
  •  After adding lemon juice add sugar and continue to stir for about 15 to 20 minutes.Milk halwa gathers as a mass and if you stir, it will swirl in the pan.Transfer it to bowl (you can even transfer to a plate and cut them into pieces) 

Little words
  • Add cardamom /elaichi powder for flavour.
  • Keep stirring throughout the entire process to get a nice textured halwa(and to avoid burning).
  • Clean the sides of the vessel while you were stirring.
  • Add the lemon juice just enough to curdle ,too much will give a lemon flavour.
  • Add sugar as per your taste.(I used very little and it was good).
  • After cooling I cut them into pieces which were very smooth.

Easy Pepper Chicken


Ingredients

Sesame Oil2 tsp
Pepper Powder1 tbl sp
Chilli Powder1 tsp
Turmeric Powder1/4tsp
Coriander leavesto garnish
Salt  to taste

Preparation time:10 mins
Serves:2 people
Cooking time:20 mins

Cooking Steps

  • Marinate the chicken with little salt,turmeric powder and half a tablespoon of pepper powder.Leave it for 30 minutes.

  • Heat oil in a pan and add thinly sliced onions.
  • Add the remaining pepper powder and salt. Saute till the onion changes colour.
  • Add the chicken and stir well.
  • Add chilli powder and sprinkle some water.Cover with a lid and cook the chicken.Stir in between to avoid sticking to the pan.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves  and serve.
