Bread Pakoda

Bread pakodas  made with bread and gramflour make a crunchy munchy teatime snack.It is a great way to use leftover bread as well.An easy snack that could be made in a jiffy.
Prep Time:5 m       Cook time:15 m
Serves:3

Ingredients

Bread                  - 3
Gram Flour         - 1/4 cup
Rice Flour           - 1 tblsp
Onion                 - 1
Asafoetida          - a pinch
Chilli Powder      - 3/4 tsp
Bicarb of soda     - a pinch
Cumin Powder     - 1/2 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 1/4 cup
Curd                    - 2 tblsp
Salt                      - as needed
Oil                       - to deep fry

Method

  • Crumble bread nicely and add other ingredients except oil.Mix them all well.Sprinkle water if necessary.
                                
                                 
  • Meanwhile heat oil in a kadai to deep fry.Once the oil is hot,take a small portion of the pakoda mix and pinch off into oil and fry on a medium flame until golden brown in colour.

  • Add green chillies if desired.Onions can be sliced instead of fine chopping.

Bread Halwa


IngredientQuantity
Bread 4 slices
Milk2 cups
Sugar1/4 cup
Ghee2 tblsp
Coconut Milk Powder/grated 1 tblsp
Cashewfew

Method

  • Cut the bread slices into small pieces and fry in ghee till they are golden brown.
       
  • Now add milk and the bread will absorb milk.Keep stirring in slow flame till all milk has been absorbed.This will take about fifteen minutes.Add coconut milk powder or fresh grated coconut.
            
  • Add sugar,stir well and finally add cashews fried in ghee.

  • A simple dessert that can be prepared so easily.
  • After adding milk continue stirring to avoid burning of  milk.
  • Fry the coconut in ghee if using fresh grated coconut.
  • I used maggi coconut milk powder and I loved the flavour of coconut.

Bread Omelette



Ingredients

Bread Slices4
Egg2
Milk2 tblsp
Sugar2 tblsp
Gheeto grease

Cooking Steps

  • Break the eggs into a bowl and beat them slightly.Add sugar,milk and mix well.

  • Remove the edges and cut the bread slices into desired shape.Dip the bread slices in the egg mixture.
                  

  • Heat a tawa /skillet,apply ghee and place the bread slices coated with egg mixture.Toast on both sides till golden brown.

  • Removing the sides is optional.
